Carb noise can be quite noisy. Modern cars have tuned intake systems with odd shaped chambers and some have dead end chambers to eliminate the resonate noise. Back in the day we used to turn our cars air cleaner lids upside down to let out that wonderful four barrel roar when accelerating hard! Our plane motors can have intake noise too.
