Default DLE 30 Fuel System Question

I have a DLE 30 that I havent run for about three months. I put it away after running it dry last fall and tried to start it without success a couple of days ago. Removing the spart plug I'm getting spark but noticed the plug was dry so I looked at the carborator fuel screen and it was pretty well clogged up. I cleaned up the screen but before I reinstall the engine into an airplane I thought I'd ask the question here. On a glow fuel engine if you attach some tubing and blow into the fuel line you can here it though the carborator proportionate to how far the throttles advanced. Does the same hold true for a gas engine. I get nothing when blowing through the fuel line of the DLE 30. Do I have a problem or is this normal?

Thanks,
Rich

What you are describing does not apply to a diaghram type carb. You can not blow hard enough to unseat the needle from the seat.
I would install the engine and run it . I would also install a filter in your fueling system and think about putting a filtered clunk in the tank to keep the crap out of the carb.

I might get flamed but I stopped running my engine dry at the end of the day or season. I pump out the fuel tank so If I forget to fill up before flying again I don't make it into the air. Just got tired of swinging the prop so much to get fuel to the carb. Starting is so much easier when you don't run the engine dry every time your done flying. I still see the guys that run dry flipping and flipping and flipping and I have to say I really don't miss it.

Starts even easier if you kill the engine with the choke at the end of the day...

I also don't run the carb dry on my weed wacker, leaf blower, chain saw or lawn mower.
