Escapade .61 and DLE 20
Hi Everyone,
I am trying to switch all my planes to gas. Has anyone put the DLE 20cc in a Escapade .61 From looking at the specs it looks like it might be a little tight. Has anyone done it? Any problems doing it?
Thanks

RE: Escapade .61 and DLE 20
A friend had a beatiful 60 size plane the size of a Four Star 60 except the kit was made by Bruce Thorp Designs instead of Sig.
He got the wild idea of putting a Homelite 25 engine in the plane.
He promptly completed the task and the plane flew but it was heavy as a tank.

RE: Escapade .61 and DLE 20
What is the wing span and weight of the Escapade 61? I've installed DLE 20s in a 63 inch wing span VQ 60 P-40 and the same size Hurricane. Both planes gained about 12 oz in weight over what they weighted with .91 FS, but fly ok. This size plane is probably about as small as you can go with a DLE 20. Mount the batteries where ever you have to, to get the correct CG w/o adding extra weight. With the Hurricane I had to mount both ign. and radio batteries under the cowl in front of the firewall to get correct CG. I have DLE 20 in a Top Flite 60 size Mustang, 64.5 inch wing span. I had to mount one battery all the way back behind the tail wheel to get it to balance with the DLE up front in that long nose.
