Default Propeller Orientation for starting?

New to Gas; I have DLE 55; I have the Prop drilled for the 2 & 10 o'clock positions; when mounting the Prop, when I have the prop rotated against engine compression, do I want it pointing at 2 or the 10 o'clock position for the safest position for flippin the prop for starting?

Are you a righty, or a lefty?
Being right handed I use the 2 o'clock position. I would think a lefty would probably prefer 10 o'clock.

The engine runs CCW (when faceing the model) whether you do or not.  You want the prop positioned so the pick-up sensor that triggers the spark is already well in motion as you are flipping.  2:00 gets that done - provided you bolted the prop on to accomplish that.

Thanks for the replys, I am right handed, and 2 O'clock was what I was thinking, always good to get confirmation from those with experience.

I had one engine - a Fuji - that the manual called for it to be propped backwards with the choke on until it popped, then open the barrel and prop forward. Worked fine. I remember this because several club members asked how my engine ran backwards.

4.

Rotate the propeller slowly about 10 to 20 times (more in winter) until fuel begins to be drawn into the carburetor. Another way to prime the engine is to rotate the prop clockwise from bottom dead center to top dead center(compression) and then counterclockwise back to bottom dead center repeatedly

5.

Switch the ignition to ON.

6.

Flip the propeller clockwise several times briskly.

7.

After you hear some initial firing sounds, move the lever to the OPEN position.

8.

Set the throttle to a high idle. Set the prop so that the magnets are 20° clockwise from the magnet pick up when viewed from the front.

9.

Flip the prop through compression rapidly. If this is done properly, the engine will start between the first and the eighth flip of the prop.

The two O'clock prop position still works good if you are flipping it backwards too.
