I am having a problem with my DLE 55, at altitude between half and full throttle it seems to be either backfireing or not getting fuel I cant tell. I checked the fuel screen and the fuel inline filtersbut it wont go away. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas of what could be causing this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks , John

In-line filters are great but sometimes the nipple through holes are a bit small. Let me suggest that you drill the holes out a bit maybe as large as .110". The 55 uses a little more gas than the 30 cc class engines so larger ID in the fuel delivery could help alleviate a fuel starve situation. Another thing to consider is how much fuel line is between tank and carb; also all other fitting IDs your fuel system has in it. The fuel tubing may have 3/32"-1/8" ID but the fittings don't always follow. And don't forget the clunk ID.
Most fittings can be drilled out a little to at least 0.10". If all IDs are at least .1" and the problem persists, the problem lies elsewhere

Sounds like a solution,I have an inline filter on the fill line and the feed to the carb also, I will eliminate the one to the carb and check my tank fittings I do have the larger clunk and larger brass tubing through the tank stopper. however this problem has just arose after running about 10 tanks through her. If it were a fuel starvation problem wouldnt it have happened sooner? Thanks for the speedy reply all suggestions are greatly appreciated. John

Thank you for the help, upon investigating my battery I have found the problem. A break in the connecting tabs caused intermittant voltage drops thereforemaking the ignition misfire. I'll try again saturday. Because i have a golf game with my daughter tomorrow. Rotten Out!!!

I strapped down the battery so tight between the cells with a plastic ty-wrap that the vibration from engine cracked the tab that connects the cells. I hope this could prevent someone else from making the same mistake and losing thier plane. I went over the whole plane and insulated all the wires that rub up against anything with a piece of tygon tubing slit down lengthwise to prevent any chaffing.
