Default Scuffed high tension lead

I have a ZDZ ignition with a scuffed HT lead. The outer copper mesh is showing through the surface plating and is broken for about 20% of the circumference. The inner insulation is OK. I intend protecting it with plastic coil and routing it carefully. How important is this scuffing"?

Probably you are ok with 80% of the shield intact.

If that engine uses a resistor spark plug, that reduces the chances of interference more so, even with
a damaged woven metal shield.

Salvage some braid from any good shielded coax and use the braid part only to slip over the top of existing braid.....should work. Do not be afraid to experiment. Capt,n

I think you are OK. With 80% of the braid sheild left, it won't be a problem. But do go ahead and do something to fix the problem and prevent future scuffing or damage of course.
