Default Difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke gass engine

Hi all.
I have a couple kits that are rated for 90 2 cycle or1.2 4 cycle nitro. I am thinking about going gas.
It looks like a 20cc 2 cyclegas engine would be equivalent to a 1.2 4 cycle nitro.
I have no experience with gas, so I am not sure what the difference in performance and weight is between gas 2 and 4 cycle.
Is it similar to nitro where a 90 2 cycle is similar to a 1.2 4 cycle nitro?

I did do a search, but could not find anything that would help me.

Thanks

I would dare say that the gas engine is in a class of its own. But also yes, they can be equal to and similar to 2 cycle and 4 cycle, in power..

Personally if it were me, I would consider a DLE-20 or depending on how deep your pockets are, I would also look at the OS GT 22. But once again depending on the size of the models you have and what their weights are, you may have to consider going with a 30cc gas engine.

I am sure that somebody else will come along that has a lot more knowledge in regards to engine comparisons and make a posting as how all engines can be compared in power.

Hi mate i always overpower things,90 two stroke means 150 fourstroke to me.If you buy a gas version of the same fourstroke glo engine expect to lose at least 15% power.

The DLE 20 is right in there for 90 sized planes. It turns a 16 or 17" prop, and has a lot of power. I love mine. SO you can compare prop size to what your glow engines would turn. The DLE 30 spins 19" props. You can keep that in mind when considering ground clearance.

It depends on how you fly, and how much power you feel you need. Normally a 20cc gas would be about right. I personally like the Mintor 22cc or the Zenoah 20cc.

Thanks for the replys. I don't think I explained myself very well, I am trying to find out the difference in power between 2 stroke gas, and 4 stroke gas.
For example, isa Saito FG-21(1.26) 4-Stroke Gas Engine equivalent to a DLE 20 2 stroke in performance?
Are there any special considerations that need be taken into account when buying a gas 2 stroke vs a gas 4 stroke?

Thanks

I would say they are about the same in power.
However the Saito will weigh a lot less.

From what Iunderstand from the reply's, Unlike nitro engines where you have to buy a larger four stroke engine to get the equivalent power to a two stroke, gas four stroke and two stoke engines that are the same size have equivalent power. Although gas four strokes will way more than a gas two stroke.
Am I understanding this correctly?

We have 4 types of engines:
1) Nitro 2 stroke
2) Nitro 4 stroke.
3) Gas 2 stroke.
4) Gas 4 stroke.

Type 4,gas 4 strokes you find in automobiles, and rarely in RC. Forget them.
Type 2 and type 3 have the same power but type 3 will weigh more than type 2 because it requires ignition and a battery.
Type 1 has the most power.

The satio 4c gas seem to be closer to a 2c gas motors

but even on satio web site they show the gas 30cc satio needs a 1in shorter prop than its nitro brother

the NGH38 4c seems to make ok power but not 35cc gas 2c power
