Default DLE35ra running problems

Hi Having problems with my dle35ra engine sounds rich below half throttle but when you roll inverted it leans out and runs ok for about 30 seconds then cuts have tried leaning the low end needle but cuts when you open throttle , Can anyone tell me why the engine runs different right way up to inverted. using Standard muffler 18x8 prop 30:1 fuel mix ngk cm6 plug only had 8 flights. Hope someone can help.
Thanks

It isn't the 35RA only. They all seem to do that until you get the mixture right and engine is broken in some.

I suspect your low end is too lean. It should be around 1 3/8-11/2 turns open at this stage of break in, give or take the width of a screwdriver. The high end should be around 1 5/8-1 3/4open. Engine should be running slightly rich with those settings and actually 1 1/2 open on the LS should be very rich.

The prop load is fine. Gas, oil and plug are fine.

One quick way to tell if the current low end is lean, let it idle for 30 seconds and gun the throttle. If it's too lean ,it will probably die. If moderately lean it will stumble and might back fire. Eight runs is barely half a gallon. Give it a couple gallons then tweek a bit.

Thanks for the info will get more fuel through the engine and then fine tune the settings. was flying on saturday with the cowl off to make sure the engine was not over heating had six flights no engine cuts ,put the cowl on and the engine cut. Will try to vent the air flow over the cylinder to help cooling.I have also put a vent line on the carb into the fuselage. Thanks again for the help
