Default EVO 150

Does anyone have first hand experience with an EVO 150? These seemed to be gaining popularity around '06-'07 and now seemed to have fallen off the face of the earth. Everything I read now is all positive but is old info.

If this is the Spanish engine, I had one to test. Never could get it to run a full tank. Had a terrible time talking to the company. Everything sent to me was in Spanish or German. They didn't want anybody in the US to do warranty work. All engines would have to be shipped back to Spain. When it did run didn't find it any better then my 150 3-w. When i asked them if they wanted it back, I never heard from them. Made a boat anchor with it. Dennis

Dennis, not really what i wanted to hear LOL Would I be able to ask some details of you? What prop were you running? What fuel/oil combo were you using? How did you power the ignition? Were you using mufflers or a different exhaust? What was it doing specifically and what was done in an attept to fix? I appreciate any feedback.

You have to realize it was a while back. I know I used the same fuel-oil mix as my 3-w. 50 to 1. Prop was a 32x10. Can't remember if I used a 4.8 or 6v battery. the mufflers were the ones that cam with the engine.
I had a very hard time starting it. I had to use a electric starter on it. One day after fighting it all day I finally got it to start in the dark and found of the heads was warped. It glowed in the dark. I waited for three months for a replacement part. They told me they had never seen that. LOL but i would get a new and improved head. Still had trouble keeping it running.
just the fact that they didn't want anybody here to work on them would be enough to keep sales down. by a high price for engine and have to send it to Spain would make selling them almost impossible.
hope I helped. Dennis

Yes that was a help. I hear you about the support and at this point I know parts would be impossible to get. Then again I have not ever had an engine that needed unique parts for that engine. things like ignitions, carbs, bearings, reeds and such are easily obtained. things that I cant find out right now is compression ratio so I know what gas to run. Hard starting and a warped head could be carb or ignition induced. My biggest concern is the mechanicals, is the engine design solid and was the correct materials used? Everything I have read so far has been positive except for your experience. I'm going to go forward with the purchase and see what the engine looks like when I receive it. Thanks for taking the time to let me know your experience with the engine. If there is anything else you can think of I would be appriciative.
I honestly thought that they were on the right tract. Needed to work out some details. Trying to buy and sell in the US dealing with the URO was the deal breaker
for me and not being able to service my customer. Also trying to sell a new engine for the same price as a DA or 3w would have hard.
I did see company videos of the engine running, but i know how you can fix them to make anything look good.
Best of luck with the engine. they do look great and i hope it is a good one for you. Dennis
