Jody's post has a couple of nice pics of the process, but they aren't working right now. RCU has lots of photo problems...

RE: What do I do now?
Hi,
as there are no pics I am missing something. In mycase the black plastic bit is broken. Does it sit on brass tubing and is just pressed on? If so, can I simply pull it off with a plier & then solder on an extension?

Yes. Break the rest of the plastic off, and then you have two options. You can thread the inside of the brass insert you will see, then screw a screw into it to force it out of the carb. Then you can buy a replacement fitting and just press it in. Or, easier, just solder a piece of brass tubing into the fitting, solder a barb onto the tubing so the fuel line stays secure, and you're good to go.
The pictures that don't show on that thread I gave you show how it can be done using brass tubing and Loctite instead of solder. Jody creates a nice smooth blob of solder on the end of the tubing to hold the fuel line hose nicely, then just uses Loctite to install the new piece of brass tubing into the brass insert in the carb.
