Default Quadra 35 Prop shaft replacements?

I have a Q-35 and would like to find a prop shaft adapter that is shorter than the stock one. Also, how do you go about removing the old one? Is it just threaded on?

They screw off/on. If you know someone with a metal shop they could make you one or possibly cut-down the stock one. if not you could try B&B Specialties or contact Ralph Cunningham as he used to convert them

Would you know if they screw on clockwise or counterclockwise? It should not be too tough getting it off looking at it tonight.
