Default DLE 20 Engine modification

Has anyone there ever rotated the cylinder of a DLE 20 180 degrees or known of it being done?

Well, I don't have one here to check, and the archive photo links don't work. But I think that you cannot do it because there is a boost port at the rear of the cylinder, that prevents you being able to rotate the cylinder. (No matching boost port in the front) I am not sure of this, but just pulling the cylinder off and looking it over would tell you. Another thing, if the cylinder were rotated, the piston would HAVE to be rotated as well.

Won't work for there is no boost port cutout on the right side of the crankcase

Thanks W8YE, that's what I thought. But is it the side or the rear? I thought there were transfer ports on the sides of the cylinders, and a large boost port in the rear.

Large ports front and rear of engine, smaller opposite exhaust port. Turning the cylinder so the exh. port points to rear, looks like the large front port cast into the cylinder would hang off the side of the crankcase.

Rumors have the rear exhaust config being released soon, probably cheaper to just wait for it? No concern about ring hooking a port that way either.

I intended to rotate the piston too. I wanted to know if it would work.
