If it's been sitting for a long time with a dry carb you'll have to prime the motor, once it fires up a couple times the carb should get wetted up and prime.
Give it a shot of fuel through the muffler and tip the engine so the fuel runs into the cylinder, then crank it over a couple times to assure no hydralock condition exists, ignite and start up. I had just done my quadra 42 like this, the motor was cowled in and couldn't access carb.

I don't believe that will work. He needs to get fuel through the carb and let it get to the engine from there.
This is caused by one of two things. Either your fuel and vent lines are backwards, or more likely your diaphrams are stiff from non-use and you need a carb kit.
Not sure what the Walbro # is but here is one from Bennitt.

Actually, the suggestion to prime through the muffler, tip the engine so fuel will flow into the cylinder will work just fine. It is a procedure I use often at the start of the season. Try it.

keep trying you getting some gas if it pops. maybe not quite enough. Be ready because when it goes it can surprise you, make sure it's secure be safe. I sure had to fuss with my quadra this year too on initial start-up, without a spring starter I probably wouldn't have got it going.

When was the last time this engine was run?
Where are your needles set at?
I have never owned a Quadra but have owned several Zenoahs and they like to be very wet to start.
If you can't get the carb dripping wet by choking I suggest you go through the carb again.
Did you install a complete carb kit or just diaphrams? Check the inlet needle to see if it is stuck.
Did you remove the carb screen and replace it or clean it?
Since you say it has really good spark it sounds like you are turning it over fast enough.

pamster, Quadras are very similar to Zenoahs in their start characteristics. Choke till fuel drips out of the carb and thats about right!!

i took the carb off the engine , the gaskets seem to be right , in the kit they give you a
brownish pump gasket , can this be used?

Use whatever matches up and usually end up with left overs as one kit will cover 5 different models.

Carb kits typically come with three different types of diaphrams made of different materials. The tan one is more commonly used when using gas which contains ethanol.

ive been using premix , which has no ethanol .
what i found is that i had the carb on with the pump side plate facing the outside.
and the port in the reed block didnt match the port in the carb base.
now i have it correct with the pumpside plate toward the engine. its drawing fuel now.
so much for confusion
