Default DA100cc more thrust needed.

Dear all hi,

I run a DA100cc on standard mufflers and because my plane is heavy i need more thrust for 3D.
Does anyone have an advice on that?

The prop i use is a Carbon Mez. 27x10 and the plane is empty 12,5 kg.(27.5 pds)

Please advice.

Dear Lifer hi,

No i haven't tried any other prop because i am afraid that the engine will suffer. 28x10 would be the next size to try but tell me your oppinion...With heavier prop i will loose
some rpms so finally the thrust would be the same. What you think of that..

I might suggest a larger diameter with 8 inches of pitch. More thrust, less speed. 28x8 or 29x8, or 30x8.

Try a Vess prop 27B and try to get some weight out of the airplane.

I hate to say this, but unless you can get some weight out of the thing as speedracertrixie suggested, there isn't any prop that's going to allow you to do any real 3D with a DA-100. You will need a DA-120 or something of a bigger engine that's not too heavy. The DA-120 is actually lighter than your DA-100.

Dear Zeeb you are right i know,
I just wanted a cheap solution until i deside to buy the DA120.
I think that for now i will go to speedracerntrixie suggestion because i made a research and finally the Vess 27b is a better overall propeller than Mezlick 27x10.

The problem is that i haven't locate a dealer in Europe yet to order one.

Thank you all.

Alexandros

Dear friend hi,

Today i finally tried the Vess 27B on my DA100 and the over all result was satisfied.
My plane is a Carf models Yak55-sp 2,6m so you can imagine how big is the cowl.
My first impression when i received the prop was disappointed because of the poor finish of carbon and the MADE IN CHINA written on the packet.
After the installation and the balance checking who actually were not needed at all , i flew my yak today.

The first thing that i noticed is a difference in noise wich is more but for Greek terms is OK.( for me is even nicer)
The engine seems that gained around 10% of torque so i have better kick and about 5% of thrust.
The airflow on ailerons is noticable improved and the max RPMs and speed is the same with Mezlick.
I finally beleive that Robert Vess create a very nice and smart product wich is driving the propeller's airflow away from the cowl and gave to my DA100 the
maximum efficiency .
What i would rather prefared to see written on the box is made in USA instead of made in China.
Thanks for your advice .
Alexandros.
