They look professional.

Speed and darc 1 from down under

Copy that ! So then, I'm set with the BME.

This is what I'm using for my gas engines.

Has anyone used the filters from Redwing with the plastic barrel and aluminium ends and had a failure from the petrol destroying the plastic barrel?

Last year I purchased 2 x filters as mentioned above for my Hangar 9 Carden Yak 89" with a DLE 55 RA in the airframe.
Approximately 3 weeks later just before flying I could smell gas and found that the plastic barrel was leaking fuel and thought that the aluminium ends had come loose only to discover that the plastic barrel was all soft and being eaten by our fuel, Im from New Zealand and using 91 unleaded with a fully synthetic oil
I contacted Redwing and was informed that these were ok for gas and they had never seen this happen
So approx 3 weeks ago I installed the second filter onto an electric fuel can only to find that the same problem has occured to this fuel filter as well
The plastic goes soft and if you drain the fuel from the filter it hardens back up but a pin hole occured in the barrel and was squirting the gas out.

I e-mailed Redwing 3 days ago and got the same answer that these were made for gas and they had not had a failure
Maybe I got the only 2 filters that decided to fail but I find that hard to believe and I dont believe our New Zealand fuel caused this

I have no issues with Redwing but want to make sure that someone else dosent loose his or her model as I nearly did

Looking forward to your replies

Thanks
Fireynz.

I stop using this type of filter a while back. now all I use are the felt type clunk filters from Walbro that go directly in the tank.
