Spark plug wire on DLE 20
Hey Guys,
Can you shorten the plug wire on a DLE 20, it's just too long? It's
the stock ignition that comes with the engine. Sure would like to get rid
of about half of it.
Thanks, R.L.

Certainly it can be shortened. If you are very careful with the bent tabs, you can remove the existing cap and reinstall it on a shortened lead. You will need several different pieces of shrink sleeve to complete the installation. Or, a better idea might be to just buy a replacement cap for about $10 and install that. There are several online videos and photos that show the cap installation.

sure you can. You have to shorten it from the cap end. Carefully remove heat shrink and snap ring.Squeeze the crimp ring and maybe it will slide back. If not you will have to cut it off.Pop the cap open with a pair of snap ring pliers. It is best to get a new plug cap kit about $10.00.You can probably clean up and use the old parts. You will need a new crimp ring. Or if you got the old one off in one piece, drive a punch thro it and open it up.Do not bend tabs open but hook the top two and squeeze the shell in and hook it into the bottom tab. Then crimp the tabs back closed.Adrian at CH Igns has the cap kits he can also do this for you. Some where on these forums are complete instructions for doing this.
