Default Saito FG-21: fuel which octane? 90 or 93

I have a dilemma, the manual calls for 91 octane for my Saito FG-21. But I can only find the following: ethanol free 90 octane from Sunoco or 93 octane from everyone else (Chevron, Shell, Sunoco, etc....) that may have up to 10% ethanol.

Horizon Hobby says 93 is preferable.

No dilemma at all. Use Pure Gas ! Google Puregas.org.

Do you have a small airport nearby? Use 100LL with the proper oil to fuel mix.

In my area, the only ethanol free gas is 93 octane, and that's what I would use. The higher the octane, the less chance for detonation to occur.

Maybe if it's a small field and not too concerned about the EPA, but they recently told FBO's not to sell aviation fuel over the counter. They were after the folks who use Avgas in snowmobiles, jet ski's, some cars and the like. But the order just said "Aviation Fuel" so I can't buy Jet-A for my turbines anymore either.

So the higher octane is better?

Horizon was pushing 91 over 93.

The engine probably won't know the difference between the fuels stated.

Do you have any boat or recreational vehicle fuel sources near you? If so they should have ethanol free 93 or whatever is popular in your area. How about racing fuel outlets? Again, they should have something that would fit your needs.

I can get ahold of 100LL. but would that cause other issues knowing Saito recommends a 91 octane.
