I came up with a 20cc side carb and exhaust at a local swap meet. It is marked XZY on the front case. The spark plug is at a angle out of the top it also has a canister type muffler that looks like it came from a weed eater. Mounts from the back not a beam mount. I am looking for a carb spacer and a smaller muffler. I have contacted several on line vendors including VV. They had no ideal what I had. XZY engines normally had a rear carb and exhaust. Any suggestions?

Google up "XYZ" and see if what you have fits one of the many pictures of XYZ engines. Several variants including side carb and exhaust. Could be what you have. Good luck, it sounds like they were of the "Early Chinese" offerings.
