The rod has needles on both ends, so gas would work well..
The Super Tigre 3000 turns an 18-8 at 8000 rpm on gas, but must use 10% oil... Spark plugs cost $15.00 each .....

HP numbers are meaningless...the ability to turn props is what counts..The Maxi 30 was advertised as an engine that would turn a large prop very well.. I ran one on glow but don't remember the rpm...Gas will have a little less power, but cost way less to operate......

The moto head in our club has one ,I will call him for prop rpm specs. Iused a ST 3000 on gas and tapped the plug hole with a 10 mm tap and use a NGK CM6 plug, cheap and much more durable.

IT turned a Maro 24x8 @ 5500 or a 20x8 dynathrust @ 7000
The carb on it wasn't the greatest, try a Walbro.
Really comes to life with the MAC 1.8 tuned pipe but its the size of a Record cucumber.
