I'm still looking for a good G38 muffler. I want an in cowl muffler for my 1/3 scale sig spacewalker that i am building. I think B&B makes a mount/muffler. anyone know of that? what are you using and how does it work?

If you have the original muffler you have a start for a pretty good muffler although not the quietest.
Remove the baffle and screen. Close up the outlet louvers. Grind the plating off of the louvers and silver solder them closed. Bolt the muffler together and make two 1/2" holes for exhaust pipes. Be sure to keep the two anti crush pipes inside. Grind the plating away around the holes. Silver solder in two brass tubing exhaust pipes.
This is all very easy to do with silver solder flux and 15% silver solder, obtainable from a welding supply, and a propane torch.

Make darn sure you have real silver solder, and not Stay Brite. Stay Brite melts about 400 degrees F, and whatever you fasten together on the muffler with it will come apart within minutes.

thanks guys. i have torches, silver solder, and brass rod. i made a homemade muffler for my 62. i don't think i'll doctor the original muffler for the 38, though. i'd kind of like to pick up an after market one, but will build from scratch if necessary. thanks for the ideas, though. i may do that, too. thanks again. i will check out the website too.
