Default Roper Gas Engine

Has anyone experience or knowledge of the Roper (sp) gas engine produced a few years ago. The other name I've heard connected to this engine is Harris. I've been told this engine has a 3.7 cu. in. (60 cc) displacement.

Thanks RCIGN1: Do you remember what fuel/oil ratio you used in the Roper? Where these all large (>35 cc) engines? Could they compete with other gas engines of that time? If you, or anyone else, can help with these questions or give additional information I would appreciate it. akasssh

The factory oil recommendation was 16-1...They have ball and roller bearing cranks and roller bearing rods.Kind of a strange design, the crank had a a roller bearing on the front end and a ball on the rear....Thrust was taken up by a ring in the rear ball bearing, held in place by 2 screws.....the "Big Ropers" were 3.7, there were two other sizes. 1.9 and 2.5.......Roper Sales, 1905 W Court ST, Kankakee, Il 60901
May not still be in business....

Thanks again RCIGN1: I've heard before these engines require more oil than many of the 50:1 engines. Thanks for the verification. akasssh
