i have a G-26 that i am having trouble with. i cannot get the engine to draw fuel. what am i doing wrong? i have a G-45 and it does not seem to have any problem drawing fuel. when i first go to start the G-45 i choke it till it pops, then i take the choke of and it starts right up. why cant the G-26 do this? thanks!

Take the carb and insulator block off the engine...Block off the intake port and rotate the crank, you should feel a puff of air coming out the small hole in the cylinder under the intake port..This is what works the pump function of the carb.Replace the gasket, be sure the small hole in the gasket lines up with the hole in the cylinder..Replace the carb block, line up the hole in the block with the hole in the gasket..block main hole in the block, turn the engine over, you should feel the same puff of air from the small hole..Replace the carb, there is a small hole in the carb casting that lines up with the hole in the carb block..There are two holes in the casting..One is not drilled through..The correct hole is nearest the cast carb cover held in place by one screw in the center..If all these holes line up and the carb gaskets are in place correctly the carb WILL draw fuel..You can put a container of fuel on the floor next to the plane with a transparent fuel line to see if the problem is in the tank....Only other thing that would cause the carb to not draw fuel would be a stuck inlet needle..The cover on the carb held by 4 screws has a diaphragm and a gasket under it, in that order..If you take the cover off you can gently press down on the lever in the center of the carb to lift the inlet needle off the seat...Don't bend the lever, it should be flush with the casting next to it....
