Default Muffler question?

How can I get my Quadra 35 equipped with a Bennet muffler to run quieter? There does not seem to be ANY baffeling in the Bennet muffler. The engine is mounted inverted on a Balsa USA Cub and it's too loud. Can something be added to the Bennet muffler pipes to reduce the noise?

I'm Looking for the stock muffler for a US35 or 41 gas engine. It's the black, stamped original style muffler. New or used. Anybody have a stock muffler to sell?

Someone must have replaced the stock muffler with a better one and have the old one kicking around.

Thanks, Wayne

You could stuff the Bennet muffler. There is a coarse weave steel wool like cleaning pad except its not made of steel. It's aluminum or something. Maybe even stainless. It's a pot scrubbing pad. I personnaly have not used it but I understand it is worth a try.

I'm thinking the bennet has two outlets. You could plug one outlet?

good luck,

Jim

Plug one outlet then couple the other one with some Teflon tubing to a cheap ($3 or so) lawn mower muffler. Mount the lawn mower muffler wherever and however it makes sense. Another option is to couple using copper water pipe and fittings. You can slit the end of the pipe and clamp it to the muffler outlet/inlets. Use high temp exhaust sealant if you need it. You will still need to support the extra muffler somehow.

Default Muffler question?

BOLD MUFFLER (561)344-8785 MAKES A PITTS STYLE IN COWL MUFFLER THAT WILL QUIET THE ENGINE TO AMA SPECS AND INCREASE ENGINE PERFORMANCE. MENTION THE "HARDEE'S AIRSHOW TEAM" YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID. BENNET MAKES A MANIFOLD. ITS NOT REALLY A MUFFLER. THEY ARE EXTREMELY LOUD.

Get some 90deg plumbing elbows. The one that change dia as they bend. A t-fitting of the larger dia. Plumb togather and braze up the copper stuff. Then into the lawn mower muffler. Put the after muffler between the landing gear legs and you wont hardly notice it.

The bennets are loud.
Go to Aerotrend's web site and get some exhaust tubing. Then ring the tube from the pipes to the rear of the aircraft. You will loose about 300rpm but the plane will be a lot quieter.
