Default DA50 awesome engine

Just fired up my new DA50 the other day. What a motor. Started right up, ran great, flew the plane even better. Only had 7 flights so far but the engine is so smooth and easy to tune right. It already idles at 1600 and peaks at 6500. Just gotta figure out a bit of a throttle curve for better hovering/harrier control.

If you are flying Futaba, try -70 throttle expo...that's right MINUS 70....huge sweet spot in the midrange...... I know it sound like allot, but that's what is working on my DA~50 Wild Hare Edge
Good luck,

Good luck with the 50, I had some hiccups with mine, but DA's service has been awsome. First time I humped up the head when my header cracked because I didn't support the pipe right, Da replaced the jug and all rotating components free of charge. Then something happend after 4 gallons later. Some rod noise started. Again all rotating compoents free of charge. Both fixes were in under a week too. Other then that it's an awsome motor - Enjoy!!!

I have to agree with you guys. The DA50 is an awesome engine as well as the outstanding service that DA provides. I unfortunately had the mishap of a piston failure a while back. I sent the engine in and within a week it was turned around as good as new. Best of all , they stand behind their product and absorbed the cost of the repairs. I know when I need another gas burner , it will be a DA...

Is it a problem if i cut the heavy black & red connectors on the ignition? I would like to replace them by a standard RC battery connector like we use for the switch.

I love my DA50. It also went to the shop once and was back over night same week I sent it and better than new. I just ordered another yesterday. I would like to own their other engines as well someday. I have over 16 gallons through my engine and it is very very powerful. It is on a GPPW and is going on my 2.3 extra very soon. Thanks RickP for the inspiration!! DAs customer service is second to none!!!

Good luck Touchdown, and have fun!!

Joe
