Default What engine for a 33% GP Extra 330L

I am building a GP Extra 330L 33% and need some help on what engine to put on it. This will be my first giant bird and also my first gasser. I want something that starts easy and has plenty of power.

I wouldn't put anything less then a 80 size engine. 100 inch wingspan airplane I would be tempted to install the DA 100

My GP Extra 330L started life with a Quadra 75 (72 cc ~7.5 lbs). It flew well at 23.5 lbs dry with a Zinger 24X10, and would even hover (and gently pull out).

I wanted more 3D oomph...since the ZDZ-80 I have in my H9 Sukhoi is definitely plenty of power and over 2 pounds lighter than the Quadra, I'm in the process of getting another ZDZ-80 to go in my GP Extra. Heck, with carbon fiber goodies, I may get the all-up weight down to 20 lbs!

Enjoy it - it's a "great plane"!

I like live in the boonies, the closest hobby shop is 100 miles away, where online can you get all the carbon fiber goodies. Magilla

If power, performace and price are factors I think the ZDZ 80 single that I have on mine would be hard to beat. I have an RCS (JMB) in fuselage muffler on mine and the performance at my fat 27# weight is still more than adequate for anything less than all out 3D which this airplane isn't known for anyway. It is whisper quiet with the MSC prop and pulls like a tractor.
My only caution is that RCS seems to be lacking in support lately. Hope they can get their act together before I need another engine cause I base my buying as much on support as performance.

We had two guys in our club build those planes one had a 3 W 100, the other had a fuji 64. depends on what you want to spend and how you want to fly it.
