Flipflop on your homelite 33 did you use the primer bulb that came with the saw?

If you don't use the primer bulb, it is best to plug the return line.

I FOUND THAT IF YOU DONT USE THE BULB, IT DONT RUN RIGHT. I have trid to block it but it seems to have better pef. with it. It must draw fuel from the tank through the carb then through the bulb. if its backwards it dont idle good. Your rpms go down without it.l

I never could get one to run right with the return line connected to the tank. Well, it would some times. I plugged the returns and never looked back.

I'm using the primer bulb on the Homey, on the Poulan Patriot I've got the return line blocked off. Both run well.
