Default Biela props??

Just saw the Biela props on the AI website. I've never heard of them. I'm assuming they are just out? But, they sure to look nice. Has anyone tried these props out? How do they compare to others? I am thinking about buying one to try out on my BME 50 this spring.

TIA

Chris

Chris
I have a 3W-50I that swings a 23x8 Biela around 6100 RPM and my motor pulls a 17.5 lb QQyak54 straight up for a long as you can see it. 3D is very good at that RPM, forward speed is faster with a 3W 22x10 but 3D transitions well with the Biela propeller. I use them consistantly over the Mejzlik on my 3W's.

Biela's have been around for years, but you don't see them all that often except at the big plane meets. Excellent props that pull extremely well. They can put a pretty good load on an engine so a little care has to be taken to find the size that works best for the arrangement.

Let's keep this thread going ! It could become another U-Can-Do-3D 46 !
I've used a Biela 22-6 on a ZDZ40 in a UCD 120. Great prop - pulls well and really pretty (like a supermodel). Tried a Clark Industries (Canuk) 24-6 - - Very ugly wood prop, but pulls even better. The only 24-6 I could find.

Thread revival again. I have noticed a huge difference in load between the biela and wood propellers. For example, a fiala 18x8 wood will make 7100 rpm on my evolution 7-35 radial engine but the 17x8 semiscale is spinning only 6100 rpm top. Any explaination?
