Hi
I have decided for various reasons to go for for the 50cc class of plane .
I am going to start with the Kange Laser 2000 and I am not sure which motor to go for , not only for this plane but for this size in general.
I would like to choose between ZDZ or MVVS (maybe DA).
If ZDZ should I be looking at the 50 or 60 ?
I would appreciate any comments.
Thanks
Tim

Motors are electric....you want a gas 50cc engine....right? A Poulan 46cc is said to be pretty good converted engine. If you like ZDZ ....get one... get what you like!!!

My Feedback: (10)
THere are alot of great engines in this class, I havn't heard anything bad about them latly. Brison, DA, BME, ZDZ, MVVS, heck the new Evo would be good too. There are allot of loyal customers of each engine that you will have a tough time trying to decide by asking the question here.
FWIW, I have 2 DA50s and they are running great. It did take a trip to DA's service dept to get one of them to run well but it does now and I'm very happy. They had to update the engine I had. My second engine was already updated and runs great.
The only question I have for you is WHY did you ask this question again? You had a post on this very subject only 5 posts down.

Hi Ken
It was a double post which I deleted but it appeared again !!!!???
All things considered - (eg weight vs output) there has to be Engine (not motor - for the purists
) which is a better bet .
From what I read the MVVS is a monster but the DA50 is lighter - this is what I am trying to establish, which features are likely to
cause me to enjoy my Gas experience more.
Thanks for the input .

Tim,
I am flying my Kangke Laser with a BME 50. I had to remove the metal flying wires and move the rudder servo up close to the CG to get the plane to balance. The rudder servo is suppose to mount in the rear. I moved it inside the fuselage just behind the receiver tray to balance without added weight. I could have added a pound of weight to the firewall and been done with it but I wanted to keep the weight down. I also replaced the stock steel flying wires with light weight cables. In the end is came out perfect with no added weight.
So if you want to buy the lightest, most powerful engine you can find be ready to make some changes. Unless you don't mind adding firewall weight.
By the way the BME is a fine engine to consider. I don't know what my all up weight is on the plane, but I am sure it is lighter than most with the modifications and no added weight. Regardless the BME is more than enough for 3D and multiple up-line snaps.
My engine is still on the first gallon and slightly rich but is spinning a Menz 21x8 @ 7300 rpm.
