Looks like a Sachs 3.7 or 4.2. I'm sure RCIGN will see this and hop in here as well. I wish I new 1/2 as much as he does! He helped me ID my 3.7 Sachs.

There are numbers cast into the base of the cylinder...47 is a 3.7, 49 is a 4.2...the numbers are the bore size in millimeters....[8D]

One more question:

The engine ran fine for about flights, then about 5 minutes into the 5th flight, the engine conked out. Appears to be fuel starvation. Changed fuel tank, no help. A friend cleaned out carb, no help. Engine won't draw fuel on the ground when choked. Carb is a Tillotson with a serial number of S236C350.

Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks.

Steve

If you can't draw fuel when choked there has to be a restriction somewhere between the tank and carb, a leaky fuel line, or a stuck inlet needel...

Bernoulli2
get rid of the Tillotson and put a Walbro SDC 80 on it.

Thanks Excaliber, another friend had recommending going with a Walbro carb, I just wasn't
sure of which model to get.

Problem turned out to be the rear seal (whatever that is),
which has been replaced by my friend Kenny.
Now the carb draws fuel again and the engine works fine.

Thanks again for all the help.

there are 2 seals on your engine.both seal the crankshaft in the crankcase, 1 on the back side and one on the front of the crank. If either one leak it will affect performance. So will a leak in anyone of the gaskets. There are at least 4 of those.
