Default DA50, Getting into Gassers

Hey guys,
Looking to get into gassers in the near future, and would like to throw one in my DP Ultimate 1.20. I was wondering if anyone knew the flying weight of the DA50 (ignition, batt, muffler, etc) and what I needed to run a gasser. I have been doing glow for 5+ years but always wanted to try gas as it is much cheaper!! Please help a new bee out.

Depending on the muffler, it will come in around 3.5 to 3.75 lbs. with the ignition and standoffs.

The ultimate might be a little small.

Lee

Dave Patrick has a 50cc ultimate coming that will be perfect for the DA50. I have 2 DA50s and love them!'

Thanks for the info. The reason i need so much power is because I live in Colorado where we fly at 6000' and I am trying to get the power I need out of my YS 140DZ and just cant seem to find the amount I want. But 3.75 lbs is quite a bit heavier than I thought it would be, so we will see. I like Dave Patrick planes so I will keep a look out for that ultimate.

My DA 50, 2 1/2 in standoffs, Slimline Pitts with smoke, and ignition is 4# 2 OZ, no battery.
My DP ultimate with OS160 weighs 12#2 Oz. The engine/muffler weighs 2# 8 OZ.

For some reason my ulty is 13+ lbs. I guess I will try to save some weight with mini's on the ailerons and a smaller servo on the rudder (got a massive 1/4 scale on it right now).

What exactly do these gassers need to run?

Flying at Pikes Peak or similar elevation fields--do yourself a favor
Do not even consider the planes adv for 1.2 glow -50 cc.gass
Look for something that has a wing loading of 25 ozs ft -or lower and up to 16 lbs for the 50's

Hehe, I am not flying at pikes peak, but I do agree about the DA50 being too big now. If I could have kept the weight at 3lbs than I was considering, but not now. I fly at about 6000ft altitude and maybe on a cold day I can 3d, but summer is coming up...

Maybe a RCS 140 for a gasser that would fit a DP Ultimate .

For that size 'plane the new MVVS 45 cc (with magnesium case) could be just what you need.

They are about to be released. Pe Reivers (and other MVVS agents) have the info on it.

I'll be paying him a call when my tax refund cheque arrives

Oh I see. I thought you meant I was flying up at pikes peak over 14k msl. I am only 5 years into the hobby so I am not sure if there is a field by that name anymore.
