Default DA50 throttle Q

i've got a H9 80" cap232 with a DA50 swinging a pro zinger 22 by 10... all the power in the world, the Q is...
when in a hover i'm right near 1/3 throttle which leaves me plenty of pull out power, how can i have this same set up hover near 1/2 throttle? i just feel more comfortable with my planes hovering near 1/2... would neg expo solve this? (futaba 9cap super)

Yes try negative and positive expo to see which may help depending on your radio, also if your radio has throttle curve then use that obvioulsy.

Had the same problem......If you have a computer radio with exponential adjustment available on the throttle just go into the exponential menu and add enough exponential to take care of this problem.....If you don't have expo on your radio the only way that I know how to get what you desire is to play with the servo throws and move the throttle control rod in and out on the servo arm. If you have to go with the latter it could take a while to get what you desire through trial and error.[:@]

I have a Futaba 9C and have the same "problem". I solved it by using a P.MIX curve. In the advanced menu, the last P.MIX has a curve. If you set channel 3 (throttle) as both master and slave (thus mixing it to itself) you can use the P.MIX curve to adjust throttle servo movement. If the curve is below zero, you will have less than "normal" (as set by end points) at that point, and above zero will give you more power.

To move the "hovering area" from 1/3 to 1/2, I would program negative values on stick position 2 and 3. Leave position 1 and 5 at zero (to keep the end points where they are), and let 4 be somewhere between 3 and 5 to smooth out the curve.

Exponential will not work in this case because the half throttle point will remain unchanged. Expo only works from half stick and towards each end. Since we're talking about moving 1/3 stick to 1/2, I prefer to use a P.MIX curve instead of expo. OTOH expo works well if you want to change the curve near the end points.

If you want to set the throttle curve "visually", you could also add another P.MIX that mixes 100% negative throttle to itself. This will cancel the ordinary throttle servo <-> stick link, and the P.MIX curve alone will control the throttle servo. To use this setup, the curve must be different, going from idle (0%) in stick position 1 to full throttle (100%) in stick position 5. Again points 2 and 3 must be a little lower to move the hovering rpm up to 1/2 stick.

Feel free to ask again if I have forgotten any details or my explanation is impossible to understand. I hope this helps more than it confuses.

While this is true for Ail, Elev & Rud channels, the throttle expo on the 9c (can't speak for other radios) is spread from low to high. I use throttle expo on all of my planes to get the rpms where I want them on the stick. I have used the 5 point mix as well, but I have found the expo method to work fine for my needs and is less hassle.

Hmmm.....I'm a JR man and the expo on my 10X is effective throughout the entire stick spectrum, not just on the ends. I set up my Double Vision's throttle expo this way. I'm ignorant concerning how to program the Futaba.

The 10x has a throttle curve, can't you use that?

And I thought I came up with the best answer so far. I didn't know that the 9C DOES have the "special" expo function on the throttle channel. I'm sorry.

Flierbk,

The trouble is that the guy that started this thread doesn't have a 10X but a Futaba 9C. It was super easy to set up my throttle curve with my 10X. Maybe he could ask this question in the radio forum as to how to set it up with his Futaba.
