I have a new BME-102 with 12 flights so far that static on the grounds is spinning a Menz-s 26-10 6400RPM. For flight I have richened the high end to 6200RPMS. The idle is good and the transition is execellent. After 2-3 passes in flight the engine sounds like its going to 1/2 throttle. Upon landing engine temps are 220+ on right cyl. and 140 on left side. Seems as if one cylinder is dropping out. Both spark plugs look a slight tad rich and both are the same. Both plugs fire with plugs out and engine spun by hand. Carb diaphram is blocked from airflow and I dont believe this to be a mechanical problem because of the inconsistant run. Im leaning towards the module because all other possibilities have been covered but the plugs dont seem to show this condition. All the obvious stuff has been checked. Any suggestions appreciated. Help Keith!!!!

I'd swap the plugs first to see if the same cylinder stayed cold. Then, I'd swap the plug wires. If the colder cylinder also changed to follow the bad lead, then there's an answer.

Have you tried swapping out the ignition? Or switching the ignition leads between cylinders.
How about a compression check on both cylinders?
Or pull the cylinders and have a look at each to compare. Look for any signs of either a ring sticking or unusual wear pattern on the piston and cylinder.
Post your question on the GSAL, KB reads that one and responds.

I have pretty well ruled out a compression, stuck ring theory because of the static run situation. I will probably do as suggested by Tim Indy and swap leads and plugs around. I did do a quick glance at the cylinders through the exhaust and plug openings and through this it seems ok. Also the vibration levels seem low which lends me to think the compression is fairly close on each side. Thanks, Im open for any ideas

Try swapping plug leads first, but here's why I think it's a sticking ring. If it were an ignition problem, it wouldn't always fail on one side several minutes into the flight. The failure would be more random. It acts like something is getting hot and causing the problem. Then it fixes itself every time the motor cools down. It's hard to imagine how the ignition would do this, unless it's a metal plug boot loosening from the heat.
