Default G38 Props

I have a Zenoah G38 with a slimline muffler. It currently turns a APC 18x8 Wide blade at 8300rpm. I would like to get a little more verticle out of my extra without gaining anymore speed. I have recently tried a bolly carbon 19x6 but the revs on the motor rose to over 8800rpm and the plane flew way to slow. I was thinking of going to a bolly wood 20x8 or an APC 20x8. Is this to much prop for the engine? What other props do you recomend?

A 20 X 8 will cut your current rpms considerably. The G 38 likes it around 8,000 rpm

I had my LHS order it for me. It is not a size that he normally stocks. I did not get a chance to run it last night. I should tonight though.

I flew the Spacewalker with the G38 and the APC 19x8W prop and boy did it make a difference over the ProZinger 18x8. Engine ran good in 95 deg. heat. Prop provided great thrust and good downline breaking. I was able to do big loops from level flight without problem. Stall turns had great vertical. I would like to try a 20x8 Menz S to see how it performs, but I am really happy with the APC. I did not tach it so I do not know what it was turning, but the difference over the ProZinger was amazing, it was like flying a different plane.

Zinger props are have horrible efficiency and a horrible reputation. Only a fool would run such a substandard prop....
