Hi Guys, Can some one tell me what Spinner you are using with this engine? As because of the prop set up being a bolt and not a thread/ Nut It appears that a Ali Spinner can not be used (unless you know otherwise)

Any Ideas.... As I need a 3 1/2 " Spinner for my Cermark Edge 540.

Cheers lads

Well my Edge 540 is slowly coming along, Mounted the engine today a Crrc Pro 45cc the new version. i must say it does look good. I just have the receiver to put in and finish off the plumbing and then put the ignition unit in but that will have to wait until I have time again....

Wondering if anyone has use a Bennett Built muffler on one of these engines? I've got one in a FW190 and the stock muffler will run into my cowl mount block, while the Bennett one off my G62 just fits. It's got the same bolt and inlet pattern as the stock muffler, and it would seem to remedy any issues with the stock muffler pipes cracking by using it. Any effect to performance? I also took off the velocity stack to get everything tucked inside the cowl....wondering if this might have caused anyone any problems?? Thanks in advance. I should be able to run it in the next couple of weeks and find out.

Is it the original ignition and/or spark plug? They are both pieces of junk and it sounds like an ignition issue. I have also had that same scenario with a kill switch but not with that engine. I know you don't want to hear it but switch over to the auto advancing ignition and it runs soooo much better.

The Engines before being sent out from the factory have the carburettors set as follows:

High speed needle H: 1 ½ turn

Low Speed needle: L 1 1/3 turn

I don't have a picture of the 45 carb but this is the carb from the 26 but the principle is the same.....

I have tried everything but the engine is still having the same trouble. This engine is piece of junk I will never buy China made engine again, I have lost lots of money and 2 weeks fo quality time. This engine has three versions - this means this engine is still under development Anyone who is thinking of buying this engine, please reconsider. Thank you all very much for your suggestions. This was my first joining of the group, and I really appreciate your quick responses and suggestions of help.

I am not going to say that you shouldn't feel that way because I have been there too. I will say that once I changed out the ignition, I've run 25 gal thru mine without a hitch, but those first few were a struggle. In their new 50cc version, they provide the auto advancing ignition at about the same price that you paid for your 45 without it which pisses you off even more. I've come to the conclusion of buying used engines of off ebay or here -that way my expectations are lower...

Oh yeah, I know this feeling!

I called my GF45i every name but an "engine".....
Nothing but trouble when I first got it....

I'll tell yah what I did....

My GF45i came with the version 1 Volcano Ignition module (chrome colored)
well, it would fire, then not fire, and then finaly started working reliably, after
messing around with the connections and checking battery voltage
or so I thought.......-
Well, I was hovering over the pond at my field, and poof! It quit... SPLASH!!!
Plane survived with no damage.... just got moist...

I just said heck with it and put an RCEcel igntion on it, and used the stock hall sensor (changed a couple wires around on the plug)
Not one lick of trouble since...... I've got about 13 gallons of fuel through this engine now, and loving it...
I'm swinging a 21"x8" Hawk prop, fuel at 32:1, flying and hovering a 17.5 lb spad....

Here recently I found out that the el-cheapo wires they used on it.............
(red and black looks like thin metal stranded wire and nasty plastic insulation and the ground had no insulation.... with round tubing over it one was gray one was black)
The red wire had broke inside the insulation... I rewired the ignition with new futaba J style wires and plugs not a pleasant task with all the potting goo inside....
but it actually works now, and I'm running it on another test engine... and it seems to be ok.....as to if it will go into a plane again... well I doubt it....
But thats my story.... wanted to share ..... it might give some insight to a few people....

How close have you got your Receiver in relation to your Ignition module? As you must get them as far apart as possible.

I had a six volt sub c pack. In the middle of the Plane over the fuel tank. Ignition in the nose. Shielded and the battery shielded as well. I took the sub c out and put a A size 4.8 a little further back with another .012" aluminum plate between it and the igniton, antenna down no glitch. I'm going to put the sub c back in in the back and see if it glitchs further back to see if it's the pack. Can't put the sub c so far back it messes up the balance. I've had a look of planes set up the way this one was. I never had to seperate the batterys this far. Live and learn,

Plug cap was tight.
Thanks

Hi all. I have a 45i that wwent down in a plane about a year ago. I made sure the engine was wunning fine when i put it away.
installed in new plane. I pulled the carb to pieces, blowed it with carb cleaner and air hose. Rotated carb 180 deg casue of the throttle linning up. I have the upgraded ignition. Carb is lower that fuel tank. Have checked the plug to make sure its getting fire.
Try Starting: Full choke, spin prop and watch fuel flow through the tube and wet the choke door. Turn choke off, and turn on ignition and crank. First few tries the muffler was off and when she fired a saw a small flame of fire exit the exhaust. Crank, crank and nothing. Plug not what I would call flooded. So I reinstall plug and it happens all over again the same way. Does the flame mean the timing is off? The engine ran the way the timing is before. Can anyone help with my problem? Could it be the carb?
Thanks in advance RCWI

Dont know how it happened but the sensor was over the magnet with the piston at center. Just slipped it over and used of the screw holes to hold for a test start. She started right up.. This is still a good running engine!!!

I put ferrit rings on all the servos and battery. Still a Glitch a matic. I'm going to try a PCM or spectrum reciever. Never had this much trouble before. Fly my Brison 3.2 with a PPM no problem. Flew my Revoultion 50 PPM no Problem. I've go a G62 NIB maybe I'll put it in.

DO NOT USE PPM OR FM RX'S WITH THESE ENGINES. YOU ARE ASKING FOR PROBLEMS. USE EITHER 2.4 HGZ OR PCM AND THE PROBLEMS SHOULD CEASE, ALSO BE CAREFUL USING AA'S AS IGNITION SUPPLY THEY MAY SUFFER VOLTAGE DROP AT HIGHER RPM.

HAPPY FLYING

A LITLE ADVICE FROM OUR FINDINGS AFTER SELLING THESE ENGINES FOR MANY YEARS

Put an rcxl ignition on it. That's what finally cured mine.

My plane went down yesterday. Lost connection with it. Was using 2.4 reciver. Went full throttle and after about 30 secounds I lost control with her. And down she went. Davren65: Where did you get your rcxl ignition, and how much was it. Is that the same ignition used with DL 50? and how does it work with a different spark plug?

Great you try to be cheap and buy a cheap motor and you get what you pay for. Cheap results. 2.4 module and reciever $299.00 PCM Reciever $99.00 all to get a $299.00 engine to run in a plane. Live and Learn.

I'm going to try 2.4 Glad I did not drop the money on a PCM. If it glitchs with the 2.4 it's going back!!!
