Default Power box and 3W ignition

I want to know if there are any reasons why I should not connect the ignition to a power box. This way i reduce the battery count by one and give power redundancy to the ignition. i have tested and i get no interference, or glitches.
Do you have any comments?
Thanks!

I have emcotec system on my extra comp-arf with da 100 and the battery of ignition isn't near at the emcotec and trasmitter.
Normally there isn't problem but elctronics impulse of ignition may be dangerous for the radio and servos.

what i am doing is using the powerbox to energize the ignition. both the emcotec and powerbox claim to independantely isolate each power and signal connection. if this is true, then i think that it should be ok. is there any reason why the power coming to the ignition from the powerbox would not be ok?

Another reason to have two batteries is the power drain from both the engine and servo's. Dennis

Dads Toys, i am using 2x4400 duralites connected to a powerbox and i can not use an entire charge in 10 12-14minutes flights. so you do not see any drawbacks from connecting the ignition to the powerbox?
thanks

With this idea your are refering would your receiver/powerbox switches also power up the ignition? In other words would the ignition become active when you turned on your receiver?

Where are you pulling your ignition voltage off the Power Box from, a servo port???also does your PowerBox have LED current indicators on it?

that is correct from one of the servo ports, and yes the powerbox does have leds to let you know about the status of your batteries. i tried it yesterday and it works just fine. the voltage is 5.9 , no EFI, nothing.
is there a reason why a 3w ignition should not be run from a servo port on a powerbox?

I would put an AC volt meter with peak hold capability and set it at the lowest setting and run the engine and see what happens. If it is OK, then you may be OK but it is beyond what most of us do.

Hi Guys,
I read this post and I have great concerns. Maybe in bad cases you can get interferences from the ignition via the Powerboxes or Emcotecs to the receivers.
Both should block this bad signals, but ignitions pull large current peaks with high frequencies, so some of the hightec receivers may cause problems - the controller may crash.
The Powerbox has additional ferrit rings, so it may work, but there is no guaranty.

The new DIGI-SWITCH from PowerBox-Systems and a light wight LiPo will be best for ignitions and safety.

It says right on the directions that a regulator will eventually burn out the ignition module.

I am asumming you are talking about the 3W directions right? If so i have no mention to regulators and burn out the ignition module. I have 3x 1.5 year old 3W106 has the ignition moduled changed since then?
