Default Wii G26 work in a 1/4 Scale Sig Spacewalker

Hi Can anyone tell me if a Zenoah G-26 Gas engine will work ok in a Sig 1/4 Scale Spacewalker? right now it has a OS BGX-1 3500 2 stroke in it but I want to go with a gas engine[]

I bought this airplane used & there is no Inst book or plans with it , also does anyone know for sure where the Center of Gravity is on this airplane

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide me Carey

Are you sure it's a 1/4 scale Spacewalker? http://www.sigmfg.com/cgi-bin/dpsmar...FV4.html?E+Sig lists a 1.20 2 stroke, and a BGX is a 2.0 2 stroke... If it's a 1/4 scale then the BGX is a monster powerplant! And if it's a 1/4 scale then a Z-26 should fly it as it's output is near a 1.20 four stroke...

As for the CG -- if you can't get more precise info, balance it on the spar -- that's usually a good starting point...

I have a G-23 with CH ign on my GP Spacewalker, which is a little shy of 1/4 scale. It is wayyy too much power. I would imaging the G-26 would be perfect for the larger Sig 1/4-scale kit. Go for it.

Thanks Guys for all the help
I have a G/.P Spacewalker also I have a 9o OS FS & that is plenty of power for me anyway , the G26 must haul that around like a rocket yep looks like I can put the G26 in the 1/4 scale spacewalker now if I can just make sure of the CG on the 1/4 scale one anyone out there have the set of plans for the 1/4 Sig spacewalker it might have the spec's on the plans or Inst book for sure . I don't need the plans or inst book just the Info Thanks for all the help

Prevers Thanks for the Info on Sig's web site my spacewalker must be the older one it has no plastic cowl & no plastic wingtips all balsa except for the cowl which is fiberglass , but I will have to buy a new cowl from Stans Fiberglass anyway the one that is on there has a large hole in the side for the OS BGX 1 -3500 I think I can mount the G-26 Inverted with no hole in the side or very little hole anyway Carey

I was wrong they are plastic wing tips

Hi,
Balance it between 25% and 30% of the cord from the leading edge at the wing root. The further back you go the more sensitive the elevator will become. You will trim it out with the elevator after you get some altitude. Don't forget that gas motors need slightly more right and down thrust due to torque of a larger prop.

sea planes, I have a sig 1/4 scale sig spacewalker with a g-26 in it. It flies wonderful! I used a prozinger 8x18 prop, I also use 1900 mah ni-cd battery pack that I moved to the back of the canopy. I used to have a saito 91 in it but I had to add about 6 ounces of lead in the front to get it to balance. My CG on mine is right at 30%. I'm sure you can get it balanced with no problem. I always let my gassers run a few minutes at idle to get the operating temp up. You will enjoy the plane when you get her in the air. Good Luck!
