Default need advise on a brison

i have a 5.8 brison. it starts very easy. full throttle is great. if i advance the throttle slowly, i have no problems. if i advance the throttle rapidly the engine gurgles and dies. if i advance the throttle from about half to full quickly, also no problems. i am fairly new to gas, so i thought i would ask, before i go and make things worse. thanks for the help.

Sounds like it is too lean on the Lo needle.

The problem is definitely in he mixture settings. For a pretty comprehensive, downloadable breakdown on how to set things up, take a look at the RCS gas engine site.

I have been using gas engines for 20 years and they are really reliable when set up properly. Adjust your low speed needle 1/8 of a turn at a time towards rich setting, when it doesn't stumble on aceleration but runs a little rich at high speed lean hi-speed 1/8 turn at a time until you get it smooth without being to lean. Alcohol in gasoline will cause diaphrams to loosen up and make the fuel pump weaker after a period of time.
Good luck.
