You need to grind off the original carb links and slide the ball links on the shaft. I was concerned about this as well.

Tony,
The engine in the pic is a ZDZ-60RV on a Wild Hare 27% Edge 540T.
Cutting out the carb hole in the firewall to clear the linkage, fuel line, ect.
The engine case/standoffs, forms a bridge across this cutout, the needed strength is there.

Heres a better pic of the ball link set up for Throt./Choke on a ZDZ-40RVL.

Hi guys!
I made my own throttle& choke arms from a metal plate that i had laying around...
using 4-40 screws and ball joint. It works good for me!

Scoub,

Gotta ask, where did you get the air filter from? Have you used it on any of your other gassers?

The air filter came with the plane and i bought the plane NIB from someone in RCU . The seller had engine mounts and harware that was included in the deal. I would not pay 40$ for a new filter but for 5$, it fitted on my budget!

It's the air filter that RC showcase sell for the old ZDZ-80. It's very light and i recommend it. Like you know, all gaz carb split fuel and this filter will protect the fuse and engine box. I do not how it'll affect the carb setting or RPM.

No adverse affects from that filter -We did one on a 160-to stop spatter from going into engine box
_I also run a trumpet inlet on my 40RE- it does much the same thing owing to it's length but the little filter is the slick setup -it keeps things all nice n tidy.

I might have to give one of those a try sometime. Maybe I'm paranoid, but when I fire my DA50 up with the stock exhaust over a grass/dirt field, you can just see the dust swirling from the exhaust and prop wash. Can help but wonder how much is getting sucked up in the engine.[:@]

I have used the same setup shown in your pictures on a 3W80B2 and a DA 100...works great. I use a 4-40 cap screw and red Locktite on the nut. Never had one come loose. JB

Hi There.

Just had my new ZDZ80RV-J with a tuned Krumscheid pipe, running with a 26x12 Menz. It is not broken in at all, but with 4 notches up on the throttle stick it hoovers with my 21 pounds Laser 200 scala 1/3.
Somebody says throttle manangement!!! you bet.

Engine is strong powerfull and have a VERY quick throttle response.

So you guys just go ahead it is a beatifull engine.

What KS pipe and RPM can you get with your set up?

Which setup did you find worked well (overall tuned length for the 26x12 prop) .75-80 m to tuned length per Krumscheid?
Are you using largest pipe?
I used the AMT pipe which pulled over 7300 on 26x10 mejzlic- terrific, instant response .
Currently flying using the largest JMB can on 5" header - simple yet very effective - -

The pipe is a KS 1080 with the bend outlet, total length is 835 mm, and no rpm measurement has been made yet, it is brand new only been running 30 min, so as ZDZ no over 4000 rpm, just kidding, max rpm measured was 7100. I'm using ASPEN gasolin with 3,5% oil.

I'm so impressed and some of the other guys to, it is my first gas engine, so maybe i'm easy to impress but i don't think so, as we have one using a DA 50, one using a zenoah 80 twin, and those engine you can't compare them at all.

You must understand that in Denmark must people use 3W or DA, we are only 3 using ZDZ!!

So uptill now it I think it is good value for the money.

Thank you - I tuned for smaller prop at 80 cm- better instant response
your arrangement sounds very good for the ZM 26x12 prop and MenzS 26x12. The ZM makes much less blade noise
Is there a reason you did not use 1090 pipe?
