What size engine for what weight airplane
Is there a simple way to determine what size engine is best for what weight airplane? Glow airplanes are fairly simple to figure as a 40 size usually takes around a .40 size glow engine, a 60 size airplane usually takes around a .60 size glow engine, etc.
I know there are a lot of variables, I am just looking for a general "rule of thumb" to determine the proper size of engine to put on a specific size(weight) airplane.
Thanks,
doubledee

RE: What size engine for what weight airplane
Hi Dee,
Here is the ZDZ chart for plane weight. Wing loading should be about 24oz./sf at low end and about 35oz./sf for the larger planes.
