Default NX prop and brison 3.2

Just recieved my nx 22x8 but found out they ream them to 10mm. Brison's shaft is 3/8". Makes for a sloppy fit.

Anyone else been there and what did you do?

Thanks

I just put the NX 22X8 on my Brison 3.2 , it fit pretty good , i didnt have to sleeve it , but you know how mfg tolerences are , things change .
you can rap the crank with a single layer of tape (all that is needed is to center the prop on the shaft , once tightened it aint movin )
BTW I'm getting an even 7000 rpms using 93 octane , amzoil 100:1 mixed at 100:1 on a well broken in 3.2 , probably close to 20 gals run through it

Where do you buy your NK props? I have been running Zinger 22x6-10's on my 3.2's and am curious.

Bigger is always better.

You can make a simple shim from an aluninum pop can. Take a scissors and cut a strip the same width as your prop is thick. Wrap the strip around the crankshaft twice and cut it off. It makes the prop fit perfectly. It's also nice because you don't have to peel tape off the crank when you have to remove the spinner backplate.

P.S. If you get a chance, try a MSC 22X8. It is a favorite of many.

I'm using a 3W 22/8 on mine, turns 7350rpms. It's on the 2nd gallon, & I use the standard muffler.

I use one layer of electrical tape around the shaft and have had no problems.

NX props are available from Air Wild in California. If you talk to Rick he will suggest the 21x8 for the Brison 3.2 and after trying it and the 22x8 I agree. The throttle response with the 22 was way low and the 21 pulls line the Menz 22x8 wide I compared it with.

Zingers are good for stirring paint and that's about it, do yourself a favor and get anything but a Zinger for your gasser.

I agree, 22x8 i s a little big for this engine. I have used a 20x8 and get unlimited vertical and very rapid throttle response.

Anyone want to trade me their NX 22x8 for my NX 21x8 ? I bought this 21x8 brand new at the Toledo show for my Moki 2.10. After looking at the prop at home I realized there's no way will my Moki 2.10 turn it with authority. Now I have a new DA50 and need a 22x8 break in prop.

I rapped a little tape around the shaft to center it. Will see what happens.

What rpm's is the 20x8 running? I have only run a std zinger 22x8 at 7000. This is my first gasser. I really liked the spoolup. Alot faster than my saito 91 with an apc 15x4. Now thats slow. Curious to see if this prop slows it down or not.

Thanks for the input guys.

My Brison 3.2 is happy with a Menz-S 22x8 @ 7200 rpm.
Also works well with a Mejzlik 22x10 @ 7300 rpm.
With a Slimline Pitts muffler. The Mejzlik pulls a little harder in the air, but the Menz revs up quicker for 3D. It will rip the Menz at full throttle in level flight on a Double Vision.

My Brison is quite happy running a Zinger 22x8. Gives plenty of power for my roughly 16 pound Midwest Extra.

Well I decided to try the tape method and seems to work just fine.

This prop is a monster compared to the Zinger. Turns the same rpm. 7000 but what a diff in the air. The first thing I noticed on the first lap around the strip was at less than half throttle it was moving faster than the Zinger at full. And pullout is incredible compared to the other.

Thanks for the help.

I have used heat shrink tubing to build up the hole in my Bambula props for the 8mm bolts my engine uses. Cut it a tad long, and put it on the bolt and shrink it. Check fit. I use two pieces on mine. Works fine, and I have yet to need to replace any. I actually CA it to the hole in the prop, so it stays with the prop. You could do it either way.

I cut strips of carbon fiber and glue them in the prop hole with CA.

Slyder,
Now you can scratch your head along with me over Ryan's comment on the Zinger. For such an accomplished pilot and to have such a differing opinion is bewildering to me.

If you have high power/weight ratio (Brison 3.2 in a 16 lb plane) prop selection is not critical. I'm flying a 19 lb plane...no Zinger for me.

I noticed the same thing on a 20 lb. Giant Stinger/G62 combo 4 years ago. Switched from a Zinger 22 x 6-10 to a Mejzlik 22 x 10. It flew like I put a ZDZ 80 under the cowl! You'll also find you'll be using about 1/3 less fuel.......
