Default USE ENGINES N.Y

HI GUY'S
i've just aquired a USE ENGINES gas engine and i'm trying to find out its capacity. it has a model #257951 if that helps.
has anyone ever heard of them it was marketed on e-bay as a zenoah 25cc but when it arrived it was obvious it was'nt unless i'm missing something.
i hope you guys over the pond can help. i am also interested to know what size prop i should be looking at turning with it
thanks

Sounds like it might be a US-41. Does it look like this one? If this is what yours is, you can turn up to a 20-6, or 20-6/10, but it's happier in the 18-6 to 18-10 range

Hi Steve,
That is a 25cc US engine. It will take a 16x8 to 18x8 prop. I would start with a 16x8 APC prop.

It's a far cry from a Zenoah, it was mis-represented.

BUSA 1/4 scale WWI stuff is made for the 23-38cc range gas engines, anything in the 12-18 pound range. The more I run my -41, the better it runs. Has never quit in the air, and I run regular pump gas and Echo 2-stroke oil at about 32:1. I have mine in a Bud Nosen Trainer, 21 pounds and 98 inch wing. Of course , my displacement is a bit more, but i like the US engine.

I have a question that maybe you can help me with. i am building a Pitts with a 41cc US Engine. I need to know how to set up the fuel tank. There is obviously the feed that goes to the carb, but the vent is to go to the muffler? There is no hole to put that hose in on the muffler. Any ideas of what i am to do with the vent tube??? Also is medium fuel tubing big enough?

The US Engines 35 and 41 are exactly the same as the old Quadra 35 and 42, with the exception of the mag, the really old Quadras had points...
The vent from the tank just goes to atmoshpere, run a line from the tank vent to a hole in the fuselage under the tank somewhere near the front...
You don't need pressure to the carb, it has a built in pump...
A 35 should work with a 18-6 or 18-8 prop..

NASA Steve,
I have two US41 engines, and the pictures indicate they are a US41.....A couple simple mods will wake up a 41....change the carb to a 13.2mm, and use a B&B muffler... I have mine on a TFGS Mustang at 22.5#. It turns the APC 18-12 prop at 7250rpm..It will do the same with an APC 20-8.. Engine is super reliable, at full throttle, idle, and transition..... It is not, and dont expect it to be, a roaring $700 alphabet engine.... By spending $300 bucks for the 41, I used the remaining $400 to buy my TF ARC, and noone notices the difference...

That's the first photo I've seen of a Bud Nosen Giant Trainer. Looks nice. Just looking at the approach photo gives me warm fuzzies. I've had the kit in my pile for some years now. Maybe I'll dig it out and put it on the schedule, build it, fly it, sell it and move on. There was a time when I could have used a plane like that. Maybe I could even sell an old G38 along with it, thin out the inventory a bit. Did you use doorskins for the fuselage sides? Sounds like you did, with the weight you give.
