zenoah g62 carb problem can anyone help
I was wondering if anyone could help me? This is my first gasser and I really don't know what to do. the engine is not new. I know that the g62 runs at 8500 to 9000 rpm, But i can get only 5600 out of mine with a 22 x 6 prop. It does not seem to matter where the high and low speed needles are set. And I am going by factory settings. going from idle to full throttle quickly it spits and dies. why is this doing this?

Normal rpm for a G62 is about 7000 with a 22-10 and no muffler, less with a muffler..A 22-6 might turn that fast, and our 19 inch racing props DO in the air...Try it with no muffler..
Opening the throttle quickly will cause the engine to die if the low speed needle is too lean..forget the "factory" settings...Open both 2 turns, set the high first for max, back off slightly..set the idle for about 2000 rpm and open the throttle..It shouldn't die..Lean it out a little and try again..when it gets to the point where the engine dies you went a little too far, richen it a little..Go back and re set the high...5600 is way to slow with a 6 pitch prop unless it's way rich on the high or the muffler is restrictive..The Red Max chainsaws they're made from get tested to 13,000 with no load...I have the shop manual...
Since it's an older engine the mag rotor could have come loose in the past and slipped a little, shearing the key and changing the timing...With the piston at TDC you should see about 1/4" of the magnet past the left leg of the source coil, looking from the front...

Another common problem with all Walbro equiped engines is the micro fine screen gets clogged up and needs to be replaced occasionaly, this happens whether you filter your fuel of not, junk gas.
