Will the real EVO engines please stand up! NEW ENGINES!
Hi guys,
I just found a bit of really interesting info out on some new engines coming to market very soon(planned for the end of this month). Yes, their name is EVO, no, not Evolution. This is an entirely new manufacturer from Spain.
Here's the info I've been able to find our so far and here is a link to the Web site for the North American distributor. http://forgues-research.com You can see pictures there, though info isn't posted yet.
From what I was told by Roger Forgues (owner Forgues Research) there are two 80cc engines, one with a rear carb and one with a side carb. There's also a 150 cc Boxer and a 300cc four cylinder, and there's going to be a 150 cc inline available sometime after the first of next year. You can get some more clues to their design from their pictures. If they perform as well as they look, they're going to be a great option in large gas engines.
There are also versions of the 150 and 300 with a planetary gear reduction drive, and reduction drives for the 80's are under development.
They're also going to have a line of propellers and mufflers of aluminum and carbon fiber.
You'll be able to get service directly through Roger, and if past experiences I've had with Roger over the years are an indication, you will be able to get great service on these engines too.
I can't wait to see performance numbers and weights on these engines....and of course pricing.

Hi bpryor, This information sounds great, and we can always use more choices in our engines. Especially in the 50-70cc range. And even more important, we need and inovative technology, in design and development. I'll go over their the web site and read whatever information is there. Thanks for giving us a "heads-up" about this product.

Nice looking motors Roger, but looks are just that, can they perform
Good luck with your new venture, actually looking for a 80 motor for my new Extra. The side carb model, is it a reed valve design, and what about the rear carb model, and of course how much. Keep us posted.

It sure looks like a familiar ignition setup!
Did they offer the on board tach?

As you know, ZDZ has an electronics department now.

Guess you beat me by a couple of minutes Roger...
...but, of course, we all want to see RPM numbers, but I imagine that might be awhile.
...BTW, I want the plane that that 300 reduction engine is designed to go on. I could give my kids rides.

Bob, Roger just posted some specs on his site, including some weights and HP numbers. Of course, we all want to see RPM numbers, but I imagine that might be awhile.

I flew my 52% Edge this week with the ZDZ 210 and it is awesome , but the ZDZ will be replaced with the EVO 4 cylinder 300cc but not the reduction drive.

I should not be surprised-You can probably drive around to all of these countries faster than you can drive around Utah.
I thot that 80 looked to be a bar stock cousin to the current ZDZ80!
Wonder where they all meet for lunch-----

Everything look's great except I still don't know what the 80 weighs.

Bob, it's there. 4.9lbs. What that includes, I don't know. The side carb version is obviously reed valve, and the rear carb version looks like it is also reed, but could be rotary. Do you know Roger?

bpryor, No i don't know Roger, but hope to one day. I'll check the web site again and see where I missed it. All i saw was "KILO"S, of which I don't uderstand. The weight you quoted sound good for an engine it the 80cc range

simply multiply the kilos by 2.2 and you have your answer, and I will include the weight is imperial type. Simply forgot about that.

2.2x kilo=pounds
also -if'n you want a wrench for a skt head mm screw - just drop back one size ( 4mm screw uses a 3mm wrench)
I always thot the only conversion I needed to know was "a pint 's a pound the world around".
Now I work with furlongs per fortnight

From the minute I found out about their 300 over 2 weeks ago I immeidatly contacted Roger because he and myself have an ACM 52% Edge I had been planning to put a 3W212 on the edge but the shear surface area of this plane left me feeling like it would be under powered even wit hthe 212 so I immediatly had Roger sign me up for a 300 all I can say is looking at its stats it weighs just about the same as the 212 but puts out 12more ponies whats not to love.
