Hi all. I am in the process of purchaseing a 1/2 scale pitts bipe and was wondering what engine would be good. The person who is selling it to me recommends a 150 - 200 cc engine. I haveing not much experience with this large of airplane would like some ideas if at all possible! and also do engines this size come with electric starters onboard?
Thanks to anyone with help!!

DA 150, 3W 150/157, 3W 200, 3W 212 4 cyl., or a ZDZ 160/210 will get the job done just fine. On the smaller motors you will want to run tuned pipes. I'm putting a 3W 200 with canister exhaust on my Exclusiv Modellbau Pitts Challenger, once it's done.

If you want a REAL engine, how about a 280cc opposed twin converted drone engine ? Weighs 13 1/2 lbs..Made to fly a 400 lb Aquila drone...There's at least one used in a 1/2 scale GeeBee and another in a Yak...No starter needed, it wil hand start..Single Walbro WB39 carb and C&H Syncro Spark ignition..$1800 shipped....
We turn a 22x27 prop at 9000 rpm and go 220 mph with one in a Giant Scale race plane..
