Default DA50R Bench Break in

Hi gys,

Any body can suggest how best to break in a a DA50R engine on a bench rather than flying it? Hours of operation required and RPM etc for the engine to be broken in?

Thx for the help

Mount it Fly it .thats the only way to break it in correctly. I would not bench it there's no way to really cool the motor on the bench. and no the prop blast is not enough.

Mount it and fly...

there are great instructions in the manual for breaking it in

personally I think stands are bad for breaking motors in... but that is just me

Unlike glow, gas engines run much hotter and so they need a lot of air-flow to keep them cool..bench running will cause the engine to overheat..

I only ran mine on the bench to make sure it started and ran well before I put it in a plane. I ran it for less than a minute each time to keep it from over heating. The engine ran great right out of the box. I'd never try to break one in on the bench though.

Again, like everyone recommended, mount the engine and fly. If concerned with damaging the engine, the go with the smaller propeller recommended and this should greatly reduce the head temperature during break-in.
