Default G38 Engine Mount

I have new G38 that I am trying to remove the original engine mount so that I can use an aftermarket mount. My problem is I can't loosen the 4 philips head screws that hold the factory mount to the back of the engine. I tried an impact driver and only succeeded in stipping the head of the screw. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Default G38 Screws

Best I remember, mine were no joy to remove either. They used some type of sealant on them that had a pretty good locktite effect.

If the slots are pretty much gone, You might have to drill the heads off of the screws using a drill. I usually start with a small pilot hole in the middle of the screw and move up through bigger bits. Eventually, you will sperate the head from the bolt. Then you should be able to remove the factory mount and grasp the remaining screw with some vise-grips or such and back it out.

Be sure not to drill all the way through the screw as it is open to the cranckcase area and that could introduce metal shavings into the cranckcase.

Anybody else got any ideas?

Grind a slot in the screw with a dremel tool..Heat the screw, use a screwdriver..Sonetimes you can grip the screw with a small Vise Grip..

As I remember, those are phillips head type screws. Try using a Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel to cut a slot across the screw wide enough to use a good quality flat blade screw driver. Then apply heat from a propane torch to the screw head before backing it out. The heat should loosen the thread locker material enough to allow it to back out. Don't heat it too much. After the screws are out, replace them with metric socket head cap screws. Let us know how it works out.

I got mine off the way RCIGN describes, I was able to get two with a screwdriver and two with a vice grip, watch the fingers with the vice grip, you really have to clamp down hard.
