Default How do I chose a correct engine size?

I fly glow at the moment but am very interested in gasoline. I am looking at several planes but none give me recomendations for Gasoline engine sizes. How would I go about choosing the right gas breather for a plane? Thank you,
Kevin.

1 cubic inch per 5 lbs of plane is a good rule of thumb. Where do you fly? I am with the acadian rc club, we fly in Maurice, la.

Thanks!
I also fly at the Maurice club.
If the weather is nice, I'll be out this Sunday.

I'm offshore until tuesday, I'll probably be there during the week & the weekend if the weather permits. What is your name?

So, it is 2.5 cc of gas engine per 5lbs of plane?

I guess so, I'm not into metrics much yet but I can tell you from experience tha 1 ci per 5 lbs of plane is the way to go, for example I am flying a great planes 1/3 scale pitts, I have a zenoah g-62 in it, thats 62cc & 3.8 cubic inch, the plane is weighting in @ 181/2 lbs & it has just the right amount of power, now you can use engines from bme, taurus, zdz, brison & so on which will be a bit lighter & more powerful than the zenoah but you will pay more $$$$, I just happened to have this engine so I used it. By the way I am Gil Breaux from rayne

If you are going to buy a new engine you will find the best price & power with a zdz, you can see them a www.rcshowcase.com

Thank you for your help.
I found that 16.387cc equals 1 cubic inch.
Here is the link I found for this equation.
