DA 50 All-Up weight question
Hello,
I am trying to find out the all-up weight of a DA 50...Regular muffler, engine and ignition.....I only see the weight of the engine itself, and the engine w/standoffs...
Thanks

RE: DA 50 All-Up weight question
3 lbs 11.95oz
That's the engine with spark plug, propwasher & prop bolts, ignition, 3" standoffs and bolts, stock muffler.
Engine with washer, 4 prop bolts and plug 47.95oz
Ignition is exactly 4 oz
3" stock length standoffs with screws 2.8 oz
DA Stock muffler/bolts stack uncut 5.2 oz
So basically 3 3/4 lbs....

RE: DA 50 All-Up weight question
This data is not to disagree with Maudib, there are always differences in parts and scale accuracies. I weighed all my parts when I received the engine and created a notepad file on my desktop. Here is a copy of that file.
Engine w/ plug: 3 pounds exactly
ignition: 3.7 ounces
3" stand offs: 3.3 ounces
stand off bolts: 1.0 ounce
Slimline pitts: 8.9 ounces
Slimline hardware: 2 ounces
Note that the Slimline pitts muffler is very heavy, almost 11 ounces if you include everything needed to mount it. Benefits are that it's a wrap around so no ugly cowling cuts and it's quieter than stock DA.

RE: DA 50 All-Up weight question
That rubber band sure must be heavy!
Just teasin'... they all seem to come in within an ounce or so of one another. Someof that being the difference in length of the wires included with the ignition...
I know on mine I dump those sermos connectors and use mini-deans.... but then we're pickin' nits.
It's bascially a 3.75 lb setup with stock muffler. The muffler can be lightened as much as 1 oz by cutting the stack to just outside the cowl. It will gain about 1 db noise and increase bewteen 50-100 rpm.
I will admit though... I hate it that the manufacturers all play the same game and quote their engines with varying amounts of equipment.
I would think that everyone wants to know the all up weight of engine/bolts/ignition to compare failry or guesstimate all up weight of an aircraft.
Some have been known to quote even with the park plug!
