RE: BME 55 Extreme Specs
I spoke w/Keith about a week and a half ago regarding the 55 - he stated that it will have three bearings. Also, as mentioned earlier, they had problems with the cantilevered crank and did not want to have the exposure that Brand X had. In other words, he wants it right before it leaves his door.

I call it a on hold for a future purchase. My life is going to go on thank goodness. I'm sure there will be some awesome airframe just waiting for this engine when it is available.

Charles, what prop and RPM are you at with the 115 right now. It is hard to believe BME has not updated their site. It does not lead to customer confidence IMO.

RE: BME 55 Extreme Specs
The latest prop I am/was running was a prototype Vess 28A, which was a hefty load. I was spinning it at 6400-6450 and it pulled like a freight train and would rip very loud at WOT. I was running stock mufflers, but the 115 is out of the plane getting ready to go into another plane, except this time around I have a set of ES composite tuned pipes for it to see what kind of power I can squeeze out of it. The only other 2 props I tried was a Mejzlik 27x10, and was getting 6990-7110 consistantly with that prop. I also tried a Menz 27x10, didnt get a chance to tach it but it sounded like it was going to explode in the air. So far very happy with the motor, had a minor issue with it (case leak) and dropped it off on a Monday and was flying again that Thursday, hard to beat that. I agree BME does need to update his website, but I dont think he is ready to or wants to be on large scale as DA or 3W, as he cant keep up with all his orders now. I know Keith takes pride in is work and builds all his engines himself along with most repairs, so guess you got to respect that a bit.

Spoke to Keith today, He told me the same thing he told some of the other guys. the engine is being compltely re-designed. He didnt like the cantalevered crank. Went to a stronger setup. Says the weight will remain pretty close the the previous design. It will be 58cc instead of 55.
God bless the guy for going back to the drawing board and making a stronger more powerful engine. He's hoping for a late 2007 release. I'll wait for the engine, no sweat!
DA did the same thing with the 75cc project. Now it's an 85 and should be awsome.
