Default Which Prop is Best???

I have two gassers a Brison 2.4 and a Brison 3.2 I fly Master Airscrew Scimitar profile on both engines with great success. My question is how do they compare to other props? (ie Bolly, 3w menz, mejzlic etc) I am not looking necessarily for somebody's opinion, but does anybody have any experience or data to prove their point

I run a Master Airscrew Classic on my Brison 2.4 and am very happy with it - about 8000 rpm's on an 18 - 10. I just ordered a MSC 18 - 10 for it 10 mins. ago, just to experiment and slow my rpm's a bit. I have tried others, Zinger, Dynathrust but the Classic is the best so far.

Personal opinion and experience let's me know that if and when you make a change to a Menz, Mejzlik, Bolly, BME, NX, MSC, Bambula, RCS, or other upper end prop, you will find that there is NO comparison. Once you make the change, you'll be left wondering why you hadn't previously just bolted up a piece of two by four to the engine and saved the cost of the M.A. prop. You've been giving up a lot of performance, now's a good time to make a change.

You can't quantify the improvement easily, not unless you have an instrumented plane that can record accurate speeds and acceleration. So, most folks just try a different prop. Like Silversurfer said.....when you do switch, you'll wonder what happened....

I've been using only 2 props on my Brison 3.2, and I like 'em a lot.
Menz-S 22x8 and Mejzlik 22x10

I have two Brison 2.4's. The older one likes a Mejzlik 20X10, the newer one likes the Mejzlik 21X8 best. Master Airscrews are good for stirring paint but not much else that I have found. I goup them and the Zinger Scimitars in the same group. do a lot of spinning but not much good for flying. My Brison 3.2 seems to like the Mejzlik 22X10 best so far but it is still breaking in.

I have flown with the Master Airscrew Scimitar 20-8 on my 2.4 Brison and liked it very much too. It was turning at 7600 rpm and had good vertical and pull out with that prop. I also am flying with a Bolly Wood, 20-8 very similar to a Menz S. It turns at 7300 rpm, I like the Bolly more for 3D type flying however the Master Airscrew was not far off in my books. I also tried a APC 20-8 wide blade, did not like it. Spool up was slow and it did not have very good vertical.

By the way Zingers are not true Scimitar, they only have slight tapered tips, like many other props, however I too have found them to be rather poor performers all the same.

Never tried a Mejzlik, I would think it would work well, people like them.

Any of you have experience with 3W beechwood props? I held some in my hands, and they are lighter than the Mejzliks or Menz-S, so spinning up should be faster.

Yes, I'm using the 3w 22x8 on my 3.2. I like it better than the Mejzlik 22x8 on this particular plane. It's a wide blade and turns about the same as a standard Menz. It seems to have a faster spool up and better thrust than the Mejzlik, but it may be my imagination.

props are funny things - the best prop on one plane is a dog on another --the brand means little.about the only thing Iam reasonably certain of -on props --is that the best revving setup is usually the best 3D prop for hanging recovery after that - too many choices and the numbers stamped on th props mean darn little.
check this 23x12 note the tip is bent up -it is a ZM very light narrow blade -I will run it this weekend.

Menz props are also beechwood. Some trees have harder and denser wood even though they are the same species of tree. Acceleration of the Menz and 3W props should be about the same. If you want a light prop, pick a blonde prop. If you want a more durable prop, pick one that's darker in color.

By far the best prop for the 3.2 is a MSC 22x8. Gives the best idle. mid-range, thrust, and braking. Try one, it'll be the best your Brison ever ran. The other top-of-the-line props may be better in one of the areas mentioned, but not all.

I think the prop thing is like stated by many others.....whatever works for you and your engine/plane combo will be what you need. I have two 3.2 Sachs based engines, both older, broke in, and run strong. I have not tached either engine, but here is what I know: one has a C&H electronically advanced ignition, is mounted on a 63" Ultimate bipe weighing around 18lbs (I know, it's too heavy, but it still fly good...just lands a little hot)and swings a Zinger Pro 20X10 and pulls the plane straight up without hesitation. The other engine has a TCSA C&H ignition on an 80" CAP232 around 15lbs, swings a Zinger Pro 22X6 and will NOT pull this plane straight up without running out of steam. I just took this plane in on trade and am sorting out all the things that need to be done to it, as soon as I have the chance, I'll run the 20X10 on it to see how it does. It should be much better than the Ultimate due to lighter weight, but with the 22" prop, this engine is not turning up the rpm's the other engine does, you can just tell by the sound. Both have the timing set at 30 degrees, and have new carb kits, etc. The mufflers are different in that the CAP has two pipes out of the muffler where the Ultimate has three. Everyone tells me I need to run 22" props on these engines, but so far, the 20" have proven to fill the bill. I would suspect a 21" would probably be the best choice, and will probably try one of these as soon as I can get things sorted and order one. Any suggestions on what brand to try in a 21" prop would be appreciated, also where to purchase the props. thanks...PACO

buy another inexpensive prop-a Zinger Pro is fine -just get a prop with matching grain on each blade if possible .
the Zinger 6"pitch is a paint stirrer --try a 22x8 -then if it needs mor revs start clipping back the tips at an angle smoothingthem and balancing them a 1/4" at a time
see what happens - sIt should work if the engine is in goodrepair.
You simply can not get one of these to run too fast so let it rev .7000 on the ground is fine -
Your engine is made up from bits n pieces of industrial engine that was designed to run fast .
Your "muffler may be choking the engine - remove it n run it up and see.
